Riding the Roller coaster: Navigating the Life Cycle of Ups and Downs
Life is a cycle of change, sometimes up and at other times spiraling down. Thriving during those moments of upward spiral is easy, full of love and joy. Yet those happy moments seem very few and sustaining in the downward spiral seems like an extreme test.
What if I ask you to create an opportunity in the downward spiral. You will feel aghast, asking me how you can even say so or rather think so. Is this impossible what I am asking, let’s have a closer look.
If you look inside yourself, the power is all within you. How can you use that power to uplift your negative thoughts. Let’s take an example, you are angry as someone poked you or made fun of you. You try to justify yourself in every possible way that how the other person has aggravated you. You probably will give me a list of reasons to justify your anger. I hope you agree with this example.
Let me put another perspective to this, there was a glass filled with orange juice and when the content spilled, there was apple juice on the floor. “What? How? This isn’t possible?” is going to be your reaction. You are right my friend if there is orange juice in the glass, only orange juice could have spilled over. Then, if you don’t have anger inside you, it won’t get spilled over. So that means you created that anger and when you blame the other person, you give your power away to another person.
No, you don’t have to blame yourself either, rather, distance yourself from the situation and observe it as a movie going on. You will be able to understand your reaction and when you become aware about your reaction, you will look for ways to resolve it. And when you look for ways to resolve, you discover new pathways. You make a choice to leave the old patterns and move on to a new way of living. This is where you create opportunity in the lows of your life. This is where you know how to grow and evolve as a human being and claim your power.
When the low appears again, you already know how to climb the curve. That’s your journey.
